Jessie’s Story with Asthma and Fatigue

When I met Jessie so many years ago, her exuberant spirit was hindered by exhaustion, asthma, allergies, and burnout.  She had been burning the candle at both ends helping run her husband’s company, raising four young children, and home schooling them all as well!  It’s been such a privilege to work with Jessie and see how far she’s come in reclaiming her health by making decisions to facilitate that process.  She gave herself permission to start the healing journey physically, mentally and emotionally; and as a mom start putting some of her needs first.  Here is her process to healing…

“Educating ourselves, and being a positive influence. This is so important. We only get one life – so why not live it to the full and make other peoples lives awesome in the process?

I grew up with the label “asthmatic child.” That was my normal. I didn’t even consider that not being sick could be normal for me. I was told by doctors that there was no cure for asthma, and I had no reason not to believe them.

The truth is, the doctors did the best they could, but they didn’t have all the answers. Through learning, support, science and powerful products- I have a new label now, and its NOT “asthmatic”. I am an educator. My passion is to connect people and help them get the tools they need to be successful in their health journey.

I am so grateful to Dr. Alana Berg at Mission Naturopath Clinic. Without her wisdom, I would not be where I am today – confident, overcoming and full of health.”

This is some of Jessie’s insights she has come to understand:

?“Is it true?”
“The truth is incontrovertible. Malice may attack it, ignorance may deride it, but in the end, there it is.” Winston Churchill

?“One thing affects the other.”
Your body, spirit and mind are not separate from one another. They are intimately connected. Pretending they are not- this is often when disease can flourish.

?“We are in charge of our own health.”
Don’t wait for someone else to fix you. Every decision you make either feeds sickness or feeds health. It all matters.

?“I am not an island.”
We don’t know everything, and we don’t know what we don’t know. Surround yourself with wise people and learn all you can- you never know when you will need the wisdom.

?“Givers gain.”
Being genuine, helping altruistically – your needs get met by default. Its the law of sowing and reaping.

?“Here is home.”
Four generations of my family has called the Okanagan home. I have a sense of pride and ownership in my valley – and I mean to protect it through investing and educating in the best ways I know how. Take ownership of your home

?“I am a mama bear.”

In raising my four awesome young kids, I do what I need to instill goodness in them, to become awesome adults. This job trumps all the others.

?“I can be a bridge.”

Meeting a friend at the gym, your choice to create a healthy dessert recipe, etc.… Your positive choices can pull someone else from darkness to light.

I have found therapeutic grade essential oils to be the perfect bridge to better health. They are powerful and effective, and because they work so well- this leads people to ask more questions. That is why I chose the career path of Educator with Young Living Essential Oils. I love my job and the people I get to work with.

So- What are YOU good at, what do YOU have, what do YOU know? You can be an influence for the people you care about to live a better life.”
